FAQs

What does a business analyst do?

There is a reason why business analysts, sometimes referred to as BAs, are in demand and continue to be a part of employers' future hiring needs and plans. As a business analyst, you can expect to evaluate past and current data while identifying areas within the business that need to be improved. This role aligns with someone who wants to be in a collaborative position where you communicate and work with key stakeholders and decision-makers.

As a business analyst professional, you will leverage your knowledge and skills to bridge the gap between IT and the business by assessing the process, delivering data-driven recommendations, and determining requirements within a company to executives and stakeholders.

To be successful, you must analyze and work with others, both internally and externally, to understand how to use data to change a product, service, process, hardware, or software to improve and add value to your company.

What salary can I expect as an entry-level business analyst?

According to Burning Glass Technologies, a leading provider of job market data, the average salary for an entry-level business analyst is up to $75,600 per year. Furthermore, Glassdoor reports that the current national average business analyst salary is $92,316 total per year for more seasoned professionals in this industry. This equates to an average base salary of $77,653 per year and additional pay (cash bonus, commission, tips, profit-sharing, etc.), adding $14,663 per year.
